EVENT INDUSTRY SALARY SURVEY LAUNCHED

visitBerlin hosted its third annual Bestival last week, bringing together more than 1,000 MICE and travel industry professionals from all over Europe. And micebook tagged along for the ride… The third edition of the business festival, held in partnership with three industry associations – visitBerlin Partnerhotels, BEN Berlin Event Network and INTOURA – took place on 6-7 July.

Audience was crowned winner in the Best Agency (less than 40 employees) at the micebook Awards earlier this month. We share highlights from the winning entry… Audience has experienced incredible growth over the past year, with its active new client roster hitting a huge 117% increase and year-on-year growth of 42% in new revenue, totalling £5.18m.

With the three Rs – reward, recognition and retention – more important than ever in the post-pandemic workplace, incentives are not dying, but they are definitely evolving, and agencies and suppliers need to adapt to the changing demands of corporate clients and their incentive participants to ensure the future of the sector.
DESTINATIONS ALLIANCE HOSTS HENLEY REGATTA HOSPITALITY DAY
Destinations Alliance hosted buyers from agencies including Sleek, Goose Live, Ashfield Event Experiences, Nteractive, Freshly Squeezed Events, Pure Communications Group, Seven Events and more, at Henley Royal Regatta for a day of networking with some of its convention bureau members. Buyers spent a relaxed day catching up with convention bureau representatives for Destination Toronto, Dubai Business Events, Oman Convention Bureau, Singapore Tourism Board, Switzerland Convention and Incentive Bureau, Tourism Australia, Tourism Ireland, Turismo de Portugal, Visit Berlin – Berlin Convention Office and Wonderful Copenhagen, while enjoying the rowing, hospitality and time out on the water.

TBA GROUP EXPANDS INTO THE US
Specialist brand experience agency group, TBA Group has announced its expansion into the US, with the opening of an office in LA. This strategic move into the US is driven by significant growth that the company has experienced in recent years, as well as increased demand from brands and global sports rights holders to spearhead new innovative brand activations in the US.
The Burrell Collection is Museum of the Year 2023
The Burrell Collection was announced as Art Fund Museum of the Year 2023 at a recent ceremony at the British Museum in London and on the BBC. Duncan Dornan, Head of Museums and Collections for Glasgow Life, was presented with the £120,000 prize – the largest museum prize in the world – by the artist Sir Grayson Perry at a ceremony at the British Museum, London. The Burrell Collection in Pollok Country Park, Glasgow, houses the 9,000-object collection of Sir William and Constance Burrell. Managed by the charity Glasgow Life, it was officially reopened by King Charles in October 2022 following a major refurbishment and redisplay, which aimed to celebrate diversity through the museum’s rich and varied collection and create the most accessible, inclusive and sustainable fine and decorative arts museum in the world.
Glasgow marks Capital of Sport title by welcoming 3000 sports scientists in 2024
Glasgow was announced as the 2024 host of The Annual Congress of the European College of Sport Science (ECSS) at the closing ceremony of the 2023 conference in Paris last week. The event, which will be held at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) from July 2-5 2024, is expected to attract 3,000 delegates and contribute nearly £5m to the city’s economy and will mark the first time in 28 years that the meeting will be held in Scotland.
CBS Arena appoints Paul Michael as managing director
Michael has been commercial director at the venue since 2019. This has included overseeing the commercial strategy for the business since being brought under the new ownership of Mike Ashley’s Fraser Group last year

The Royal Docks venue hosted a total of 89 events during the 30-day period, the majority of which were technology, AI and fintech focused

The Business of Events has released its 2023 International Planner Sentiment Report. The report illustrates the current thinking of event buyers from a range of disciplines across the UK, Europe and North America in terms of their priorities when selecting a destination or venue.

By bringing the industry and university partners together, research projects will be designed to deliver real benefits to the industry in terms of trend analysis, insights and performance improvements.
