Scots language awards set to sparkle after braw spell for the language
The Scots Language Awards will make its much-anticipated return this autumn when Johnstone Town Hall will host the very best of Scots language and culture on Saturday 16th September. The awards, which were first started in 2019, celebrate the importance of Scots language within arts and culture but also within daily life, education, and business. Tying in with ‘Gie’s a Scots Poem Day’, organised by Hands up for Trad in partnership with The National Poetry Library, today’s launch encourages people to celebrate the Scots leid by sharing their favourite Scots poem online.
Turing Fest announces CodeClan and Baillie Gifford as partners for 2023 conference
TURING Fest has announced CodeClan and Baillie Gifford as Diversity Partners for this year’s conference, which runs on 28th-29th June at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC). The Turing Fest Diversity Programme has run since 2018, aimed at helping more underrepresented or disadvantaged people get into tech, or help their career progression.

The winners of the Off to Work Event Photography Awards 2023 have been announced after a record number of entries. The ninth edition of the awards culminated in a gallery viewing and ceremony at the Royal Institute of British Architects on 5 June.
Diversified Communications drops kosher trade show
Diversified Communications has announced the closure of the world’s longest running kosher food expo. In a statement, the organisers said: “After a very thorough analysis, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue Kosherfest for 2023. Due to today’s changing supermarket ecosystem and the consolidation of responsibilities in many major supermarket chains, we feel we could not provide the value and experience that our audience has come to expect from Kosherfest. We thank our loyal attendees and exhibitors for many years of support.” Launched in 1989, the annual B2B event had been held in Meadowlands Exposition Center, Secaucus, New Jersey, since 2014, an attracted up to 500 exhibitors and 12,000 buyers a year. Trade show organisers poised for growth ahead of GED 2023
Global Exhibitions Day (GED), the annual celebration of the exhibition industry, will take place on 7 June 2023. This year’s GED theme, “We Run the Meeting Places and Marketplaces for Everyone,” sets out to underscore the pivotal role of global exhibitions in shaping the marketplaces for customers of the future. Festival Republic offers work placements to University of Gloucestershire
Live Nation-owned Festival Republic has partnered with the University of Gloucestershire to provide more than 300 students with access to voluntary work placement roles in the areas of event sustainability and accessibility. In 2024, Festival Republic will also provide a nine-month paid internship as a sustainability assistant, based at the company’s London headquarters and festival sites, to a University of Gloucestershire student from within its Music and Sound degree programme.
AIF festivals to make 195m this year
The Association of Independent Festivals (AIF) has published its first Festival Forecast report, providing economic forecasts for its membership, outlining issues facing the sector and potential solutions. AIF member festivals are on course to make a collective gross revenue of £195 million this year, with a gross expenditure of £177m, according to a survey of it members carried out in April.
