Record-breaking numbers at the weekend’s star-studded Borders Book Festival
A packed programme of stars from the worlds of stage and screen, current affairs, politics, literature, and sport, as well as four sun-drenched days, brought the crowds flocking at the weekend to the Borders Book Festival in Melrose, in the Scottish Borders. A record-breaking footfall of almost 40,000 came through the gates of Harmony Garden, a huge 23% increase on last year, whilst ticket and book sales were up by 13%. Events over the four days were well attended, with almost a third sold-out, demonstrating audience confidence and an appetite for live events has, at long last, returned following the years of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Behind the scenes at the Royal Highland Show build
The Royal Highland Show is an annual showcase for rural and agricultural products, produce and lifestyle. As the largest agricultural show in Scotland, the event draws enthusiasts and industry professionals from far and wide to the magnificent Royal Highland Centre in Scotland. Locally based Field & Lawn Ltd are responsible for the monumental task of constructing a remarkable array of marquees and temporary structures for the event. Building around 14,000m2 (3.5 acres) of covered space.
HebCelt Islands Stage to have zero carbon footprint for second year
HebCelt will once again be significantly powered by green hydrogen thanks to funding from EventScotland’s National Events Programme, as it continues its commitment to sustainability and innovation. The Meetings Show’s hosted buyer reception to be first event aboard Oceandiva London
The Meetings Show’s 2023 Hosted Buyer Welcome Reception will be the first event held onboard Oceandiva London, the UK capital’s new sustainable events vessel. Attendees will be welcomed on board the £25m floating venue operated by Smart Group for an exclusive evening of entertainment and refreshments on Tuesday 27 June, before The Meetings Show kicks off at ExCeL London on 28 June. They will be the first #eventprofs to experience an event onboard Oceandiva London, which is the first carbon-neutral powered vessel on the Thames. It is also the world’s first to achieve the Platinum Label – the highest level of recognition awarded by Green Award for shipping companies committed to environmental protection, safety, and quality.
